Welcome to 1302 Cedar Hill Ave, located in the historic East Kessler Park Neighborhood of Oak Cliff. When we received the call to stage this home and the homeowner mentioned it was a Bauhaus, we were so excited to see it up close and personal. Bauhaus design originated in Germany and is known for its combination of the Arts and Crafts movement with modern design. The exterior of the home featured rounded corners, horizontal lines, curved terraces, modern materials, a smooth façade, and a flat roof. We can’t wait to show you the fun, modern interior staging we completed in this home. This home has been featured in DFW Deco Modernist Architecture of North Texas home tours, magazines, and books and is a definite must see!
Art Deco homes are know to be multi-level structures with sharp angles. This home is true to its architectural style as the living room is upstairs with beautiful doors on the angle opening the room up to the outdoor patio and terraces.
We didn’t spare any color while staging this home! This rug brings in bold colors to the space and we incorporated geometric shapes throughout. The living area features a sleek sectional with chrome legs for comfortable seating for a few guests or a few furry friends. Imagine spending hours sitting and enjoying the view overlooking treetops through these oversized windows!
Fun fact: This home was built as the 'Home of the Future' in 1936 as the 1st all-electric home in Dallas and has been featured in multiple magazines and architectural tours.
Polished, concrete floors and bright, white paint are the perfect back drop for the dining space. In the formal dining room, we brought in dining chairs with a vertical, tubular metal-frame with a gray, upholstered seat and paired them with a glass top table with smooth, curved edges. The leaning Hoitsma abstract art piece is the perfect pop of color to complete the room’s design.
We staged the primary bedroom using an ivory fabric headboard with a trendy, retro flair. The solid, oak wood nightstands and sling leather lounge chair with a black, metal frame are the perfect complement to the space.
Golden yellow as an accent color, why not?! Art Deco design is known to use primary colors and we loved using yellow in this space. This home is super swanky featuring modern architecture of painted concrete walls and rounded glass corner windows. Between the windows, we placed a colorful piece of artwork and simplistic bedding to provide a calm resting place for the eyes.
We would love to create in this home office, but what is your favorite room in this modern home?
